Cheers for the info.

Car is booked in next Tuesday to have the plugs and leads replaced, hope that clears the problem. I may try it myself some day but it looks helluva tight for space in there!
If no luck, I'll try replacing the coils next, they are a bit more pricey at about £35 each tho.
That other guys symptoms are similar, but not identical to mine, but we'll see.
Out of interest, I assume the plugs come already adjusted to the correct gap, or do I need to tell the garage guys the gap size?

And what's with the rev limiter, mine won't rev up over 4000 in park if you hold the accelerator to the floor, what's that all about?

Regards
DS

sounds similar to what some of the guys were saying on the yank forum. My V8 will sit in park and rev all way to the red line, im sure the v6 should do too. Good look with the plugs and leads. They should be pre gapped if thaey are specifically the ones for the car, they should check to make sure they are all the same. After a lot of testing on the v8 the gap varies from 0.04 to 0.06 inch I think so there should not be much difference in the v6 I dont think.

Yeah, kinda weird with the revving thing!
I saw that mentioned in the other forum and thought its not just me then!!
Maybe there is something in some of the cars to stop you over revving when in Park or Neutral??

I'll let the garage know the plug gap distance as well, just in case!!
I'm also going to ask them for the old plugs, just to make sure they've changed them all out!!

DS

Woohoo, my baby is on the road again   :D

Spark plugs and leads changed, car is running ace. Garage guys said the plugs were 'shot' and the gaps were massive!
Made sure I got the plugs and leads back to make sure all had been replaced, could be the original plugs, not sure and leads showed some cracking as well.
Took them 5 hours to do!! But only charged for 2.5 hours labour, sound!
Much thanks to you MaudyZ28 for your invaluable help in diagnosing the problem
If you're ever up in my neck of the woods, Aberdeen, drop me a line and the beer is on me
