They definitely have limiters. Whether you reach it or not is another matter.

Gee whiz - does that mean I can only do 160??

But then thats about 21/4 times the national limit!

Seriously though Ringram, can you post a link to the data you have in your posting. It would be interesting to have a look in a bit more detail.

the data ringram has posted is from the tuning software EFIlive. This gives readouts of all the cars tuned parameters. Obviously you need the software and tuner to access this :(

I have it am my max speed is set to 410 km/h , just in case

i dont know about limiters but my v6 really struggles to top 95mph. Power seems to just die off at that speed and it struggles. could this be a limiter or a problem. It drives well and pulls hard around town its just wen i open it up ( on my own private test track OF course) that it seems totally gutless for a 200bhp car.

I've heard about Camaros being limited before. I think it was to do with what tires they left the factory with. If they had the high spec Goodyears which most of them seemed to have then they were not limited. They did some cheap tyres as a alternative but I don't think many people opted for them.

My cars a Japanese import and I can confirm it doesn't have a speed limiter, as it has been all the way to the other side of the speedo, on a closed road ;).
Now I can't speak from experience but saw the previous comment. Ties in with my research and it referred to people that bought Z28s with lower spec tires.

The 3.8 should do (again based on what I've just read,) 125mph which was the factory claim for the 2000 3.8 base model. Don't forget the BHP is what gives the acceleration and if you suspect that is not quite right it sounds like it's worth a visit to a specialist with a diagnostic kit.

mines a 97 and from what ive read should achieve 120mph but really struggles to get anywhere near. If i did take it to a specialist rolling road and they say the engine is ok with the majority of its original power (i know some will have been lost) what could be the restriction??

A V6 should do well over that however there are some questions.

How many miles has the car done?.

Is it a Manual or Auto?

What gears are in your rear axel?

If it has done alot of miles it could just need a good service, plugs changed and a tune.

If it´s an Auto has the transmission fluid been changed recently, if it´s very old it could be a problem.

If you have the 3.08 gears that would limit your top end I think.

There are so many variables but I would look at the basic´s first. I have driven mine upto 200 kmh on the speedo and it was still pulling like a train so they do go a lot better than what your getting.

Have you had the car long and do you know any of it´s history?

from the codes on the car mine should have a 3.23 rear end. 60mph in mine is around 1700 rpm. Its a manual with around 150k on the clock i think. Ive not driven it for around 6 months as ive been doing a complete overhaul on the body/ suspension bush / interior and a few engine tweaks/ tidy up. Should all be back together soon so i think i will have it rolling roaded. Ive got a complete engine gasket kit so im gona strip the engine down at some point and give it a check over inside and replace the gaskets

I forgot to ask, is yours an American import or EU spec.

If it is a US import it could well be limited, according to the guys in the US.

If you haven´t already found it,this is a good website for info as it only deals with the V6. Mind you there is a lot of rubish on it as well but what would you expect.
