you are correct that the brakes are different. Also there my be a problem if your 95 has traction control. if not you dont need to worry.

with regards to the brakes I would use the 2002 once as they are must better, but for the handbrake you may have to get the rear cables specifically for the 98-02 cars, unless the part will match up already. The main central brake hose should aso match but beware it will be rusty and you may need to do a bit of re-piping. Give me a shout if you need any more help. I've swapped axles on my 99 to a 02 and although the brakes are the same I had to faf with traction control stuffs :D

Thanks for the reply maudy the info is a great help.It looks like i dont have to go down that route know as i have checked the diff ,bearings and changed the pinion seal and oil and have got away with it. First long run with the car going to wheels day stopped at clacket to meet up with the boys and the axle was smokeing .It had boiled because the pinion nut was to tight so home went the car on a recovery truck and i went on to wheels day in a mates astro van.Been running the car for a week now and all seems to be ok touch wood.
Thanks again for your reply
