Hi Lee here from Tyne and Wear.
I am now the proud owner of a 3rd gen Camaro she is a 305TBI manual T top RS.

It should be getting delivered to my home this week then I can start getting my hands dirty. hopefully it wont need to much work for the MOT. it started life as a slush box and was converted at some point during its life to a manual.

I have read some conflicting info regarding the state of tune of manual/auto (100% sure it will still have the auto prom), the only tuning experience I have had was my MX5 turbo with megasquirt however thats uses a nice GUI based software to tune on the fly, with the gm tuning is the software GUI based?

Hi Lee,
Congrats on the car, quite a few RS 3rd gen TBI owners here. Unfortunately the TBI isn't best for performance and many just ditch it and fit a 4 barrel carb, as you don't need any of the emissions stuff it was designed to work with..
It depends how bothered you are about originality, but it's already had a manual conversion (nice !) so guess that's less important.

Well fortunately I didnt buy the car for handling, braking, MPG, or preformance. Its all about that v8 sound track.

305 will probs remain as is (remove the air etc..) and will end up with a worked 350

They're a lovely cruiser and still got some reasonable torque as standard. ..

I know I will end up playing with the tbi lump I live by "if something aint broke you can still fix it" what I would like out of the car/engine is that V8 sound hopefully some lope on idle I am more than happy/confident with the tuning of the eprom done quite a bit with megasquirts and turbo 4 bangers, the short term plans are to put some headers and a true dual exhaust and a cam with some bigger bumps and call it a day with the 305 I know that engine will never set the world on fire.

Refreshing to hear you aren't going to 'put a 350 in it mate' or 'ditch the tbi' or similiar. Buy, cruise, enjoy :)

End of the day if I wanted a fast well handling car I wouldnt of bought a 80s american car LOL. I am more about Ttops off up the coast exhausts burbling, max torque at tickover, Ive had fast cars, track cars etc... and to be honest not really into that anymore (must be getting old)

Well I took delivery of my first yank car yesterday and all is pretty good handful of faults but its a 25yr car
The seller said it was rust free and he wasn't lying had it up in the air and despite my best efforts I cannot find any rust its never been welded and underneath is stupidly good looks like a 5yr old car. the car at some point during its life has had knock on its nose, left wing, bumper has been blue but all panel gaps are good, car has had a full paint at some point (quite a few years ago and very well done).
Even the old R12 a/c system works

From a MOT standpoint it needs very little, 2 front tyres (now done) brakes strip and clean/adjust (now done) fog light to fix, connect up a proper horn and disconnect the dixie horn

Jobs it needs doing.
water pump has a leak from the back plate
It has a ginger head lining that rains ginger snow when you touch it.
Rev counter not working
tailgate pull down latch
front bumper needs a full paint (looks like its been painted with crayons)

The rest is just a machine polish interior valet and then enjoy.

Happy with your purchase then lee
Love your description about the headlining Ginger snow
As for the underside I too had a bit of dread 20yrs ago !!
As I put my 71dodgecharger on the 4poster and got under it thinking it was going to be bad only to find it too looked like a 10 year old uk car
Do you have any car shows lined up ??
