Hi all I've just bought a 1990 camaro rs with a 5. Speed manual and it's only done 39500 miles from new It's been stood for 10 years I've wire brushed the whole of the underneath and only found one small hole so repaired that and under sealed the whole car. Got a couple of little jobs to do then it's off for mot 1 fuel pump 2 new tyres 3 replace all gas struts Where is the best place to get insurance from as I've never had a yank before? |

Hello and welcome.. And congrats on a lovely new (to you) Camaro to play with.. gas struts are an easy change and not too pricey. Fuel pump I think is in the fuel tank on 3rd gens, I remember fuel tank had to come out on my IROC, might be different on RS as it's TBI, still could be painful job though. ChevyStu is correct, fuel pump is in the tank. There are 2 ways - 1 is to cut an access hole from the boot. 2 is the correct and only way it should be done which is to drop the tank. I read the other day someone was able to do it without removing the axle, did have to remove the (i think) panhard bar but it's only 6 bolts. Worth changing the fuel filter whilst there, it's under the rear seat of the drivers side, really easy to swap out. By gas struts do you mean the suspension ones or the ones that hold up the boot and bonnet? If it's the latter, i got a whole set from rockauto, was a good price and it's an easy job to install. |
