I look at this every day pretty much, hardly anyone is posting anything. Where has everyone gone??

Isn't anyone doing anything with their third gens? I was posting stuff but ended up feeling I was hijacking the entire 3rd gen section so wound it back a little.

Anyone there? Anyone doing anything to their cars? Anyone.....

Feeling lonely

I've been carrying on building my garage and adding 'SS' stripes to Jeff the Camaro. Also done lots of little bits (ignition module, O2 sensor, finished T-Top seals, New indicators etc. etc.)

See before and after below, after is with the stripes obviously!!!

Anyone else with anything to report....

Don't feel bad about hijacking. I know what you mean though, i go through phases of lots of comments and posts and then feel bad as my username is plastered over everything lol. Makes it worse that as a moderator, the username is in red, so it sticks out like a sore thumb! So post away, even on the little jobs, it may encourage other people to be more active too and share their stuff.

I will be doing a service on the 3rd gen (trans am) later this year... changing things like hoses, fuel filter, all that sort of stuff and maybe in a year or 2 giving it a bit of refresh (all of the suspension, plus a respray with some minor bodywork) so may get more interesting posts towards the end of the year. Could post all the stuff in here in here if people don't mind.. it's a trans am but there is a lot of overlap of course. Or maybe, the challenge is, everyone post enough stuff so that it keeps the TA away from appearing in here lol.

Car is looking great and i'm quite interested in the garage build. I will be moving at some point this year and i'm seeing that most places don't have garages so i have a feeling i'll need to build some kind of car port / garage like yours, so i'm interested in how it's put together, how much it costs, all that sort of stuff. I'm guessing it's far more cost effective to d.i.y than pay builders?

I painted them on!! Spent an absolute AGE measuring / checking / masking it off with proper edging tape then painted it in three sections (front, middle, rear) in decent satin black from rattle cans.....Gave it a key first with 1200 grit wet and dry then cleaned of any wax / oil before painting. Did three coats then wet de-masked it and it came up a treat....

Wouldn't have risked it if the paint was perfect, but to be honest the stripes cover up a number of imperfections so make the overall car look 'cleaner' anyway.

Cheers for the comments!

Re the trans-am, post away as far as I'm concerned! As you say they are basically the same car anyway (sorry if that offends anyone else on here, hopefully it's only the other side of the pond that get really incensed by this!!)

As far as the garage goes, the main reason for building one is I've had to make it fit into a non-square space to get the best size I could. As you say, builders want silly money and doing it myself I can spread the cost and design it as I want it. A pre-fab would probably be the cheapest way to go to be honest, but wouldn't have given me enough space. I can give you all the advice / cost etc. you want, feel free to email / pm me when you're ready! Or I could start a new thread under General Chat for the garage status!!!

Going to go and clean the car now, when I took the photos it only had the front stripe. It now has the middle and rear done as well but needs a clean / dust off and wax to finish the job :D

Got new silver decals arriving this week hopefully, should look good against the red especially with the chrome wheels....
