Can anyone advise part numbers for the axle bearing and seal at each side, on an '89 camaro 5.0, and where to order from in the UK ?

We though it was the rear brake cylinders leaking however upon inspection it seems to be the axle seal. Have read that usually this is caused by worn bearings.

I had a look on rockauto but I was unsure what parts to order

It´s a pig of a job.
You have to have the rear cover off the diff and get the C clips out to remove the axles.
The bearings will only come out using a slide hammer.

When you have the axles out check them where the bearing rides.

With a 25 year old car it could be simply old age.
As the other members say, changing the bearings is a pig of a job, but unless they have play or are noisy I would just change the seals.

One tip. Before prying it out measure how far into the housing the old oil seal is seated. After removing the axle shaft check for a major wear groove from the old oil seal. If it's bad, when you put the new seal in don't knock it all the way in, stop about 2 or 3mm short. This gives the new seal smooth metal to run on.

I think he means the outer bearings and seals.

Once the axles are out you need a good slide hammer to get the bearings out.
I did a complete overhaul of my rear axle at the beginning of this year, never
thought to take pics of the axle end seals/bearings.

Why can´t you decide which seal and bearing to buy on RockAuto ?
