I have slight play in my steering, the steering wheel moves both ways before anything happens. Any ideas as to which part has worn. Also my steering wheel is not straight, ie not quarter to three, more like ten to four, if you know what i mean and it drives me mad, can i just take it off and move it round a couple of splines. |

For the steering wheel you need an alignment done, moving the steering wheel does´nt do it. For the slack I´´d first check all the ball joints then look at the steering box. |

It's usually the steering box but if you wobble steering side to side while someone checks undernieth at all the steering components you will see what has play, it's best to do it with tyres on ground. |

They do that test here in Spain at the MOT, the car sits on moving plates, front first rear second. It feels to me like something will break loose.... |

I have a Chiltern manual and there is advise on how to reset the bearing preload in the box to take up slack. For some reason I cannot post scans of those pages. |
