The high of passing the MOT (and actually passing the emissions properly this time) has been short lived, the small damp patch on the garage floor (at the back of the engine) has highlighted my next job and no its not the easy heater hose i had hoped for, its much worse. On the l/h side of engine at the back , just above the oil fliter housing is a very green and damp locking core plug (with what looks like a temp sender unit) My hope is that this can be got at in situ as with the exhaust off it looks as though you can get to it. Has anyone tackled this job ? (i really dont want to take the engine out) I couldnt find any core plugs on Rock Auto so any help on locating the correct one would be greatly appreciated thanks (88 5.0 TBI) Regards Alan |

Core plugs are usually easy to get anywhere, tried a Motor factors? Knock out the sick plug and take it- they won't have one for a Camaro but they might have one that size. FWIW, I have fitted core plugs in-situ, even at the side of the road! Cheers, Martin |

I tried WASP in the end after ebay searching for core or freeze plugs . The guy knew his stuff , It wasnt a temp sender i could see but a heating element (for the very cold Canadian market) and once knocked out and cleaned a standard brass plug was knocked in . She stayed dry overnight which is good, age considering. |

Those block heaters are pretty neat, had one in a Passat in Germany. If the car is outside in the cold windows stay clear, heater is warm and ready when you drive off. |
