Intake manifolds interest me. There`s tons on variables in air delivery. Will you be doing a before and after dyno run Malc? |

I already have a Performer Airgap on the motor which is spread bore and I have a square bore carb. I also run a 2" open spacer on the Performer and that´ll be going on the RPM, should be fun. Car Craft recently did a comparison test of 23 dual plane manifolds, worth a read. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/13 ... mparisons/ The AFR Titon manifold might have a few HP more but the Edelbrock price wins. No dyno facilities here I´m afraid. |

Before the manifold got near the car it´s been modified. I welded the front passenger side water port closed, then drilled and tapped it to take a sensor for the rad fans. I also drilled and tapped the water crossover for the temperature sender. As I took pieces off the old manifold I added them to the new. I ran into a snag, the strut connector I made is stopping me getting the distributor out. Tomorrow...............out with the saw........just a little clearancing. |

Late start today. also had to get me some long sawblades to cut that relief for the distributor. Then it was just a slow installation of the new intake after the old had been lifted. Tomorrow I´ll fill it with coolant and get it running, a little timing........ |

Filled her up with coolant, turned the ignition key and it ran like it was never apart...... I had to readjust the distributor just a little, then I added a couple more degrees of advance....for fun. Then I got back into the car.....horror......it´s pegging 250ºF. I drained the top of the rad, removed the thermostat and checked it, all okay. Back together add coolant. Still at 250ºF. So I took out the new temp sender and replaced it with the original, coolant again. This time it pegged at 180ºF like it should. I realise now the sender I fished out of the toolbox is a Stewart Warner, my guages are AutoMeter. |
