I was very lucky to find refurbed iroc wheels (ebay) for my 88 rs, the original 15inch alloys with 215 generals had previously shown an alarming lack of grip in the wet so the 16's with 245 tyres were well worth the cash. In the meantime cleaning, welding and painting all 4 arches was required (see photos). The new wheels and tires transformed the handling and its never felt near its limit since. (dosent see so many wet roads these days but hey. it is England) The rear wheels didnt quite fill the arches as i wanted so i found some spacers (ebay) from the states. 32mm was long enough to clear the studs and just sit the tyre inside the arch lip, cost about £80. Regards Al |

Those adaptor spacers look almost exactly the same as mine... Suprised they're not too much on a 3rd with standard wheels.. |

The drop was allready done when i bought it but it does have stuff written on the rear springs so i will have a look and post it up when i get a chance. (that shouldnt be too long as the rear bumper needs to come off for more welding and i would like to do that before this winter) Stance photo's attached ! Al

I know that a wider track provides better handeling, but is it that noticable? also i guess your not going to be taking passengers as your cam is already slammed. |

The extra track each side wouldnt be noticable in grip, i just think it looked better. It takes a car full no problem, the lowering has just limited how much movement there is (not much) On kent roads that can be a bad thing (some pot holes are so deep it grounds the front scuff panel) you need to have good fillings or a cheap dentist (if they exist) Al |

Another area of rust underneath behind the rear bumper needed to be tackled, rear lights off (easy) , moulded bumper cover also easy once youve found the little parcel box pulls foward at the top to allow your hand with a spanner to find the three nuts ! (other side is easy as you take the spare wheel out) Behind the honey comb impact plastic there's a bolt on bumper which unfortunately is double skinned in the middle section and thats a rust trap! I noticed a small rust hole (well, numerous ones) when i bought the car but as often is the case once the angle grinder is out you may as well be sure you get the lot. Ive posted the photo's so far while i get my mate to fold a 'z' section for welding in. Folded, welded, painted and back on the road (not very often now it's winter) Pleased with how it turned out, not that it shows but just another job on the done list.
