Evening all

So, Isabelle's back from the garage.
The radiator repair apparently wasn't being taken to an ally welding whizz.
After washing her, I lifted the bonnet to let the water run out of the louvres.
Thought I'd take a look at the repair to the rad - couldn't see it. Blimey, I thought, he must be good.
Then I took the rad cap off, and lo and behold, there's copper clearly floating in the coolant.
So all they've done is dump something like RadWeld in the radiator and charged me a wedge for doing so.

Bit pissed off. I wanted it repaired, not the equivalent of an elastoplast.

Then I got in tonight, closed the door and the top bolt on the handle let go.
Small thing - I think I just need to hunt down a new torx bolt and fit that.
It's just one more thing...

Still, we try to move onwards...

Sorry to hear that, I know you got an alloy one but I have good secondhand rads in stock if needed some have not been fitted long.

Cheers Rocky - I wish I lived closer to you!
The other annoying thing is they've knocked the paint off the corner of the bonnet too, and where she was sat outside in the wettest week so far this year, that's now rusting a treat.

Going to have to think about the next move in the boring saga of the radiator - so I may well be in touch.
I'm almost sure they didn't bother to insulate the ally rad from the steel support either.

My Uncles rad he got from a similar place as yours looks different, We had to trim the rubber mounts for it to fit though. If they have damaged your car while fixing it they should really pay to repair it especially if they have not actually done anything to it.

Washed the car.
Checked the coolant while the bonnet was up to drain the louvres.
Radiator's damn near dry.

For the life of me, I can't work out where that coolant's gone. There's no puddle in the garage (or at work).

So, I'm after some new rubber rad supports if anyone's gone them, and I think I'll just put an OEM rad in. This thing is more trouble than it's worth at the moment.
What's really irritating is the money I spent on the last repair would've comfortably paid for an OEM and fitting.

Ah... knackered water pump.
New one's ordered, along with a new lower hose. Should be done by Friday, along with the transmission mount.

i had the exact same thing with my old corvette, pretty much the same engine, cost me a fortune.
to be fair i lived with it for 2 years, just kept topping it up...
the things we put up with with these american cars!! think mine let more water in than it lost.
