NOW IN THE NEAR FUTURE THE LUMP AND GEARBOX WILL BE COMING OUT FOR A BRIEF FORAY INTO THE SUNLIGHT WHILST OUT I INTEND TO DO A FULL INSPECTION AND REPLACE ALL THE GASKETS.
THE QUESTION I NEED TO POSE IS THIS:WHY WHEN SEARCHING FOR A FULL GASKET KIT FOR A 305 IS IT NOT LISTED ? ALSO WHY DOES IT HAVE ITS OWN SEPERATE GASKET KIT? WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A 305 AND A 350 LUMP?( ASIDE FROM THE LARGER CAPACITY. )
AND FINALLY WHY IS THIS THE LEAST POPULAR CHOICE OF ENGINE (PEOPLE VISIBLY RECOIL WHEN IT COMES UP IN CONVERSATION)
ANY INPUT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED HOWEVER TRIVIAL
MANY THANKS

I could be wrong, but I thought all IROC's were TPI, not like the pic. I'm sure someone will identify that as a standard Z28 carb, or RS TBI set-up.. ?

No, not all IROC's were tpi. I used to have a bog standard 5.0 LG4- 170ish BHP (until I dropped in the ZZ4) IROC's came with standard carb, hi Output, TBI and TPi.

I reckon the hi outputs were great engines, love the dual snorkel. Would have that over tbi any day.

The naysayers probably don't understand what it is. They are also pretty rare beasts!

Ah... Did say 'thought'... :D I have heard the TBI system isn't renown for being that good..

The different gasket set will be because of the smaller bore I would imagine, they will require a different head gaskett. This is also why 305s are looked down on. Smaller bore means they don't rev as well and you can only fit smaller valves in the heads.
