Hi there,

I'm currently in the process of saving up for a new car and selling my MK1 Toyota MR2 to fund it. After looking into loads of different cars, I figured I'm still young and stupid enough to buy my first Yank even though petrol prices are astronomical and ever on the rise.

I've always fancied a third-gen Camaro since being a kid; as daft as it sounds it's probably because I had a matchbox toy of one...the same reason as I've had three MK1 MR2s! Anyway, my only real stipulations are the price (sub £3k, but the cheaper the better), it has to be a V8, and I want a manual. Unfortunately, all the cars I've seen seem to be autos. I do like the odd sprint session and trackday, and the car will undoubtedly end up on the Nuburgring at some point, so I really dont want an auto. Does this car exist? Or should I be looking for a cheap auto to swap the transmission out? How much would this cost?

Any help is much appreciated!

Cheers

Some cheap manual 3rd gens do come up for sale occasionally.. just keep scouring ebay etc and all the ads, and you'll get lucky at some point..

The cost of the car doesn't make a manual conversion worth it to be honest, unless you get the parts for incredibly cheap..

Go for a 4th gen- just as cheap, more capable and more chance of finding a manual. Simple :)

Ah well, guess I'll just have to hope my patience holds out...although Im almost sure it wont. I really dont like the way the 4th gen looks, even as far as American cars go its bloody ugly! Capability isnt really an issue as I just want something to cruise about in and enjoy.

 Not a problem

Amazing the effect the car had on people when I was travelling in France recently. Everywhere I stopped people wandered over to have a look.

Give it's red, one chap even though it was one of those Italian jobbies! Got loads of compliments! 8-)

Still as you say it's in the eye of the beholder.

Good Luck with your search!
