Looks like I'm losing coolant from somewhere - at the MOT the mechanic thought he'd seen the lower hose looking collapsed but when he checked it again it was back to normal.
Anyway - cleaning the car tonight, noticed the coolant reservoir was practically empty (engine was cold) and the rad was a bit low.
I've topped the rad up with tap water until I can get some more coolant and eventually some new hoses as a precaution.

But - which coolant should I be using? I half remember that if the old style's still in the rad, mixing new stuff can cause it to sludge up?
Looks like the coolant left in the reservoir is a red colour, if that's of any help.

Cheers all

If the hose is collapsed, replace the radiator cap.
