Just to throw my hat into the V6 vs. V8 debate.
Ask a V6 owner if he wished he had bought the V8 instead
Now ask a V8 owner if he wished he had bought the V6 instead
There's your answer

Hi guys, thought I would give you an update on goings on....

So, I got a quote to insure a V8 and it wasn't too bad so ive started to keep an eye out for a good price on one, I did recently see one for sale, phoned the guy who told me its back story and wanted a silly good price for it and set a day to go and look at it, just before I set off on the day to go and view it I txt the guy to say I was on my way.... to which I got a reply that he had sold it!! ...good job I checked before I drove 115 miles...

Anyway in the mean time im still saving and im still looking! did find a 82' Z28 on gumtree but its at 4.5k without an MOT or back box....

:o

Thanks again for all your replies/thoughts

Si.

Not sure about your circumstances but I just paid £185 for a years insurance on my 97 V8, keep looking, there is a convertible 3rd gen with a V8 that is auto on the baŷ of many fleas for under £5k, bit of haggling and you might get a few bob off of that as well

I have just found a 3rd gen V8 manual on pistonheads if you have £5k ? Got to admit it's the first manual I have ever seen with a V8 and its not a million miles from me in Greenford

Sorry for the delay in reply! yeah 5k is a bit out of my budget for the moment! Also im not keen on a convertiable, T-Tops however i do like!

The one on Piston heads is the same one on gumtree, no back box or MOT, i ran it through the DVLA site out of interest and it hasn't had an MOT since 2007... bit much of a risk at that price i think.

I think the best im going to afford is an RS or a base model V8....would be nice to have an IROC one day though!

Cheers.

He does say he will put an mot on it and a back box for the right money, if it's been for sale for a while it could be worth a punt for a lot less money, a wad of cash is hard to refuse sometimes

I know it's 33 year years old but given that it's been resprayed, it's got a tatty interior and a load of engine parts have been replaced it seems pretty unlikely that it's got a genuine mileage of 50K.

I'm sure you'll find a decent V6 come up. Seems that a load come up for sale at the same time then nothing for months.

Very tidy looking 1984 Z28 with year's MOT going on the American Cars UK Facebook group for £2100. Got to be worth pursuing!
