Finally, the third gen is starting to be seen as being collectable. Its often treated as the bargain basement classic 'maro but prices are rising as availability is decreasing. Particular collectables are earlier models, especially with the composite hood, later 5.7 manuals but the daddy of currently affordable but soon to be unavailable versions is the 1982 Pace car replica. These will currently set you back $16000 + for a good one and are increasing rapidly.

The other factor in collectability is the old tin worm. It is becoming increasingly hard to find third gens without rust and so if you have one, look after it!
