Hi all,
After a failed purchase attempt at a 3rd gen and couple years ago. This time we managed to find and complete the purchase.
It’s a 1985 3rd gen Z28-E 5.0L auto.
Apparently the “E” model was produced for the European market and has a slightly different spec to the USA spec models.
The headlights should have plastic ( Perspex) covers which aren’t fitted to ours but they did come with the car.
The door mirrors should be huge rectangular things which again ours doesn’t have due to the previous owner changing them for standard ones after an altercation with another vehicle, it’s a shame they’ve been replaced with the wrong ones, suppose they can always be changed back if I can find an original pair.
The radio aerial should be in the windscreen but again, it’s the wrong one. It’s a wing mounted electric aerial at present.
The rear lights are two bar, there’s a black indent on them so they’re divided into two sections. The USA spec rear lights are all smooth and look like there’s three sections ( if you know what I mean )
The bottom two inches of the car should be painted black, ours is body colour.
However, everything else is in great shape as far as we can tell so far.
There’s a few niggles that need sorting out and a couple bodges that need redoing.
The speedo is in KMH and sadly isn’t a twin needle model. Although at a little over 120,000 KMs it’s only done about 77,000 ish miles and as it’s an “E” model it has a factory carburettor instead of fuel injection.
The interior is amazing for its age, externally could do some minor touching up.
If it’s correctly registered on an age related plate, then it’s one of 206 Z28-E models built in 1985.
