ChevyStu is correct, fuel pump is in the tank. There are 2 ways - 1 is to cut an access hole from the boot. 2 is the correct and only way it should be done
which is to drop the tank. I read the other day someone was able to do it without removing the axle, did have to remove the (i think) panhard bar but it's only 6 bolts. Worth changing the fuel filter whilst there, it's under the rear seat of the drivers side, really easy to swap out.
By gas struts do you mean the suspension ones or the ones that hold up the boot and bonnet? If it's the latter, i got a whole set from rockauto, was a good price and it's an easy job to install.
