Never knew these existed. Hex end goes into chuck of a drill and other end lets you connect 1/4 3/8 or 1/2 drive. Spent so much time taking wheels on and off for example, this would help speed up the process of taking the nuts off (without starting up an air compressor). Also will make it a lot quicker doing up / undoing sheetmetal bolts:

Good idea for lower torque bolts or nuts, not sure many drills would have enough power for anything serious like wheel nuts..
I was thinking of getting a cheapish cordless 1/2" impact driver for well nuts and bigger stuff..

I use these all the time to run nuts on and off - including wheel nuts.

But most drills max out about 30Nm so you still need to torque them up after

Ye i was initially looking at getting an electric impact but then saw that you can get just the chuck fitting. Worth getting an electric impact as they're not too expensive, especially if you're pulling off wheels regularly. Thanks for the note on the torque, i did wonder what they would be capable of. I only plan on using it for disassembly and assembly and then coming in with a torque wrench (breaker bar to loosen something). Good to know other people are using them Got tired of spending ages with a ratchet going back and forth, especially in tighter areas and also bumping the end into other parts

It's awesome. Taking the wheels off took no time. Loosened the nuts with the car on the ground, lifted the car with a jack, placed an axle stand underneath, quick zap on each nut and the wheel was off in no time. I felt like i was doing a nascar pitstop for second It's nice to put some fun back into the project. Redoing the wheels was pretty quick - standard 14v drill so it snugged the nuts enough to locate the wheel properly, then dropped the jack and tightened by hand. Tempted to look into full ratchet drills now, that have enough torque for the wheels as well as other nuts and bolts around the car.

That's good news.. I wouldn't think a cordless drill had enough torque to do much, but good to know...

Having a look around and they aren't on the cheap side of the scale. Something like this one: http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcf813 ... ench/6139j Should do 100 lb/ft max but guessing that's at full charge. Can't remember what wheels nuts are supposed to be, read different things, from about 70 -110 ft lbs?
