wife had to call out green flag with a flat batt. straight away the geezer says its the alternator and my wife gets him to speak to me and I said its the belt as I had adjusted it to the max about a year ago ....but he says he's checked it and its the alternator...
got an early one a few days later and took to Al at Rides he checks it and alternator is fine..
ordered the new belt and fitted it...the old one was so loose you could turn it round with your hand and had a big split in it :eh:

My mate who is thick as @*$£@*$%** like me has just applied for a job as managing director at greenflag and I think he's in with a good chance :D

Tw@T.. !!!!!

Most genuine AA guys I've ever had to call have been pretty good, whereas some of the 'local' sub contractors they sometimes send vary massively in knowledge and ability.
Usually I have a pretty good idea of the fault, and merely need the recovery home.. (luckily not for a while now :shifty: )

I just usually test it by licking my fingers and then touching both battery terminals until sparks come out my ears to see if it's charging OK.

I think you're right. When my sister had her car mot'd (3 year old Peugeot) they wanted to charge her £300 odd for a headlight issue  She called my dad and he went along to see what the issue was... there was no issue and it passed. Strange that. I've often been the go to guy at work for anyone with car issues (even though i hardly know anything!) because people have been scared of going to a garage and getting ripped off, but i think that's how it works... if you don't know, you can't debate back and therefore things like that happen. I needed a rear replacement wiper blade for my car the other day and when paying for it in Halfrauds they really insisted that they fit it (for a fiver or something like that, plus wait around for someone to be available). It took me longer to get the wiper unpackaged than it did to remove and install the new one. I was wondering why anyone would pay for that service.

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").
