Hey all,

I am looking to replace my current mufflers with something a little more throaty, are there any brands/systems that anyone could recommend?

Ideally I am just hoping for a 'quick fix' replacement of the mufflers rather than an entire system just at this moment as funds are limited. I have used Cherry bomb mufflers in the past which I absolutely loved - but I am likely to have a toddler in the car for a lot of journeys in the Camaro so these maybe (unfortunately) a little too extreme!

Your thinking is all backwards dude, I have a twoligan and welcome any noise that is either louder than her or drowns out the folk style nursery rhyme CD's her aunt got her for Christmas that I am forced to endure too often, cherry bombs all the way and a set of ear muffs for the toddler should the Mrs complain :-)

Haha, thankfully no kiddies music is played in the car (at least not yet and if I have my way never!).

Ear muffs I had considered, but the chance of them staying on her ears without duct tape is about as likely as a lottery win when you don't even play!

The cherry bombs I put on my Mustang made it so loud you had to shout to your passenger to talk to them at speed, I assume it would be he same with the Camaro, virtually same.size engine and exhaust system looks a similar size.

When it comes down to it I don't want to deafen or give headaches to my little girl - not when she already loves cars and bikes

Mine loves the car and is a two year old ac/dc fan who constantly says "louder please daddy" :-)

Do you know what's on there at the moment? And roughly what size the tubing is?

I have a 2.5" system with x pipe and headers and the mufflers are flowmaster delta 50's. For me they are spot on - though, i have only had it idling and revving, not actually driven yet. They are on the milder side of the range and have a nice American v8 sound. Not overpowering but not silent either.

Flowmaster 10 series and super 10's are effectively like running an open exhaust, it just helps a bit with db level for race use. They have the 40's, delta 40 and super 44 which are the most popular. They are pretty tough sounding and not quite as loud as cherry's. A lot of folks in the U.S run them. The delta's help with reducing the internal drone sound which is common when going for a louder muffler. I had cherrys on mine when i got it and know someone else who had. It sounds cool but day to day it's overpowering. For example if you get up early to go to a show, your neighbors will know about it.

I'm running cut outs so that i can enjoy open exhaust here and there but for normal driving and use, can enjoy the milder sounds and not shout at passengers lol.

Flowmaster have quite a few vids on youtube talking through the range and also doing samples, bit hard though as you don't get to hear the true sound, even with headphones.

Excellent thank you, it gives me somewhere to start! The Delta range sounds promising!

I haven't inspected the system closely yet, but at a glance appears to be a 2" or maybe 2.25" system, no X or H pipe I don't think.

Ideally if money allows I would want to swap out the entire system including switchable open headers, H-pipe and all the other bells and whistles

Not so worried about the neighbours, the Mustang was the second loudest I ever heard in the owners club, and my last bike I fitted some Vance and Hines exhausts to - I like to be loud!

Got long tube headers on mine with 2.5" system. Had generic mufflers which were a bit quiet.

Removed them and put cherry bombs on, made my ears bleed and got told off by the wife! Cherry bombs now for sale.....Only done 2miles :-)

Now got Flowmaster 44s on. Sound frickin awesome! Deep and throaty at idle, bit more of a rasp when you boot it. Not too loud, or too quiet. Just right!

Totally recommend the flow masters. But happy to sell the cherry bombs if you want them!

That video is pretty good, but as expected my favourite are the Super 10s! I also know that a 500HP engine using a 2.5" system will be significantly louder than mine, and I am missing the H-pipe

I think the Super 44s are looking like a good option, but now I really want to change my entire system!
