So, some of you may know about my poorly 77' Camaro. It's been patched underneath many times before and was sort of semi-restored 11 years ago, but was really starting to need some TLC. It failed it's MOT this year, and for a while has been suffering from some tinworm in many areas, so I had to make a decision of what to do. I really wanted to keep it going and on the road, and a few weeks ago the car was taken down to my fabricator guy to weld up the floors, sills and boot to pass the MOT ... Unfortunately lack of skills, time, space etc.. meant it would be a very expensive undergoing to do it properly and fully restore the body...... . However, another car recently came up for sale, a clean, nearly finished 99% rust free 79' project, which the seller kindly agreed to let me have without the engine and gearbox as good price. So I know have this: Which will be the new car, with all the good bits (engine, gearbox, all suspension, brakes, rear axle, seats) fitted from this, my old car: Hopefully it'll all fit and go together nicely, and the body just needs a few touch ups, waxoiling and a good polish. I'm hoping to end up with car I wanted which is a very quick, great handling and stopping manual 2nd gen, thats's a bit more streetable and useable. I'll have a car to sell, either possibly as a complete package with standard parts from the new car (which are all virtually new) just needing the body resto, assembling and engine and gearbox to complete..... Or... I'll sell all the parts separately, so will have nearly a full cars worth of 2nd gen bits up for grabs. I've no doubt I might need the odd 78-81 part so I may come asking Whilst I'm not doing the bulk of the work myself, I'll be going to the workshop regularly to help out, and do some regular updates here... |

A man with a plan, good news dude when do you anticipate it being in the road ? I have an SLP lightened flywheel and jet chip installed now (as well as the two "loose" spark plugs being tightened) so you won't get away as easily next time (I hope) :-) |

I reckon it's gonna be a couple of months...... We'll have to have a 'friendly race' when it's all done..

Shame to say goodbye to the old car? Many happy memories? A wise idea though considering the cost involved to repair the necessary areas. Will it all be finished by Summer '16? |

Good news Lucky to find a solid 2nd gen like that these days ... The new car looks clean in the pix , will be a lot cheaper and easier to swap your drive-train into the new shell than to go full resto on the old car . Hope to see the new ride out and about some time next year . |

So, after a few delays over Xmas, New Year etc... My friendly mechanic fabricator guy who's doing most of the hard swap stuff has been ill with major chest infection for last 2 months, so workshop was shut and work delayed... he's got a few days finishing up on a couple of other projects (Beetle sand buggy thing, and Range Rover based snow ready MaxMAx-mobile) to get done and it's onto mine, hopefully around Easter..... |

Well, more huge delays, storage problems, illness etc.. both cars are now finally side by side in a barn to start swapping bits next week onwards... will it be done for Speedfest, i doubt it, but could be fun trying !!! |
