I haven't seen a 2nd gen in for breaking at all this year. Only places i think will be in peoples garages / sheds, left over from their builds. You can get nearly all of the parts new and used from the states of course - if you find some parts then search for "langys rod shop" on google and you'll be able to get in touch with Steve, who can bring them in at a good price and fast. Usually he'll buy the parts and ask for the $ number in £ and that covers him buying the part, shipping and doing the customs part too. I've had to buy some interior parts recently from the states as i think we've run out over here

It's getting really difficult to find useful 2nd gen parts. They are incredibly rare for breaking in the Uk these days.

Even in the USA I've struggled to find secondhand parts. I've trawled lots of CA junk yards and found only a couple of them, but they've already been stripped of all useful parts.

Sad thing is you can still buy complete solid cars for under $1k in some areas of the USA...

Parts are often easier to find on ebay with the GSP now too, which has really helped.

Thanks for your input Guy's, I have been in negotiations with Steve last week. he is very helpfull!

I want to order some stuff from Classic Industries and they want over $400 Dollars just to ship it to Steve's container point which I thought was a bit steep really especially as my order was around $2,700 (Before shipping) costs.
I asked for a discount for first time customer & they just said (NO) lol.

I was only asking if anybody knew of any parts whatsoever over here first because of trying to get the costs down overall.

I could order most items from NPD in Florida but worried about quality. Classic Industries do the OER parts that I would prefer.

I have tried Camaro 396, Summit, & quite a few other sources but seem to have come to a brick wall on saving on shipping.

AMD do a supposedly GM licensed complete floor pan & will ship all the way to Florida for $99 Dollars Including anything else up to a total weight of 150 lbs included.

Its all a bit of a pain really, I have spent more than an hour to date on calls to the USA just so I can speak to a human on the phone! :tired:

PS>still Looking for a sreering box from a 3rd gen z28

Good to hear that you're starting to make progress! I found that Classic Industries aren't very good when it comes to shipping - they are the only supplier i know of that does repro foam for the rear seats but they wanted $400 for shipping, double the cost of the foam. Add on VAT and customs, no thanks  . I've got some big parts that need to come over at some point, so Steve is waiting for my order, glad to hear everyone is having a good experience with him.

I've used NPD a lot and can highly recommend them, even went to their warehouse in L.A once. They are usually my go to resource as they have a very good inventory system and pride themselves on always having stock. They stock a lot of genuine GM parts as well as aftermarket and even have a huge collection of classic cars at their Ocala shop. Often you'll see in the catalog a part and then 2 prices, one for repro and one for GM. Anything marked as repro is usually by OER. There's only a small handful of repro manufacturers, places like NPD, Classic Indusries, Summit etc. all buy from the same suppliers, so you end up getting the same stuff, so you can be comfortable that the quality will be consistent among them. It's the same with panels, the owner of NPD had a rant once on a forum about people complaining about different repro panels and recommending one over the over - he explaining how there are only 2 (or 3) "manufacturers" but the panels all come from the same factory and then are labelled differently on the production line for a different "manufacturer" (read as bulk buyer) i.e Goodmark.

You did the right thing asking for parts here first, there's always random parts somewhere in someones garage / shed, so it's definitely worth posting a list of parts needed. Back in the day you will probably have gotten what you needed pretty quick, things seemed to have changed in past years so you either end up waiting a long while, or have to turn to the U.S nowadays. Definitely a shame as it makes the hobby more expensive and time consuming. In a way, the nice thing is that it means the repro market is growing, making it easier and more affordable to get hold of parts. Plus it's nicer to be able to install a new part, than spend time cleaning and refurbishing a part which after a while can suck the life out of a project.

Have you got any picks of your car? Sounds like you are about to start an interesting project

Thanks for your very interesting write up mate, Yes I do have some pics of the car & would like to post them on here for everyone to see.
I bought the car thinking that I had a reasonably good look at it at the time but once it was up on a ramp & stripping was started I could just see telephone numbers going round & round in my head (ever increasing) along with the hours of work.

Originally I was allowing £1,500 in paint & materials in my mind for a strip down & re paint. (me to do all work including paint) as I am a body man & have 35+ years in accident repair & restoration. (Yes, I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER!!!) with all that experience & still made a mistake! I feelashamed.

Anyways, It is what it is & I am in it for the long haul now or lose money.

Just something here for you to think about meantime, the panels I need to replace so far are listed.

COMPLETE FLOOR PAN INCLUDING BRACES.
COMPLETE FIRE WALL
TRUNK FLOOR
FRONT FENDER REPAIR SECTIONS L & R

With a few other items I need but have not listed It's already at £3,000

Hiya, have you looked at Ecklers before? I'm looking through their catalog and they do a tonne of metal parts... full floor pans, firewalls, cowells etc. (why are people breaking them anymore, you can rebuild them for a reasonable cost).

This is for a firebird but i saw some parts that you mentioned e.g floor pan (that is one is actually a bit expensive), braces etc. If you go onto Ecklers Camaro, you'll find the same parts but listed as Camaro:
