I'm toying with the idea of removing my TH350 and putting 700 R4 in place of it. I really like the the standard gear ratios and the fact it's a 4 speed. Im planning on having the transmission strengthened in the necessary areas to handle extra power. Question is, will it bolt directly to my ZZ4 and be a direct swap for the TH350? If not, what will need to be modified or changed? Thanks |

It will bolt straight to the block, but you will need a slightly shorter propshaft (about £200 from Bailey Morris) and you'll need to move the stock cross member back by redrilling the holes in the subframe. |

Sounds pretty straight forward then No need to widen the transmission tunnel then?

No, it's tight, but it'll fit straight in. Some pics on the last 3 or 4 pages of my build thread I think |

Thanks Any particular reason(s) you opted for such a transmission? What did you use beforehand?

My car originally had a TH350, then I changed the rear axle to a 4.11 and needed the over drive. But with my engine making a reasonable amount of power I built the box with a few upgrades to make it reliable. There's a few things to be wary of with the 700r4, but it's a simple transmission. If you want your transmission checking over, or modifying, let me know |

I've have heard the 700r4 is a weaker than the TH350 and TH400. That does worry me a little bit, but yours has been strengthed to cope with extra power? How much lbs ft are you putting through the 700r4 and what sort of usage does it see?
