Need to renew part of the A/C wires after spilt fuel and woof brief flame. Melted the insulation on wires so want to strip it all and redo. I need access to the grommit that passes through the firewall under the dash. question is can the dash top be removed without taking the rest apart? No need to remove bottom part of dash as if top comes away can get to it from there. Cheers peeps. |

No, you need to remove the lower part to get the dash pad out. |

Bugger. Hoped it wouldnt come to that. Plan B is hope enough slack to gently pull into engine bay to cut n renew? Only bout a foot of cable to redo up to firewall.... |

I'm trying to remember how the upper and lower dash disconnect, to see if you can disconnect them in situ and then remove only the top part. I think the amount of work trying to seperate them to remove the top, would be about the same as removing the whole dash. It wasn't too bad of a job from remembering taking out and reinstalling mine - the bolts were all the same size and there weren't too many, so maybe an hour or so to remove if i remember correctly. Annoying by all means having to remove it to get to the loom, hopefully there is enough slack in there as you say. One thing to maybe help get you access, would be to remove the glove box door and the glove box itself, which is situated pretty much on top of the heater core. Maybe this will give you enough room to work with, as you should see the loom once the glove box has been removed? |
