What do you think, good deal? Anyone on here by any chance the lucky new owner? Or perhaps the old owner?

Interesting thread here about valuations:

Uhhh, this guy has been watching too much Fast N Loud / Car Swappers / Wheeler Dealers and other car flipping shows.

Bought it for £4,150 and then in 3 days it's gone up in price by £3,350 to £7,500.00?! :wtf: That's an increase of 80% across 3 days / aka 28% increase per day. I wonder how much it'll be worth this time next year, at that rate... £968,118,468,345,398,221,323,372,778,456,948,107,963,273,314,304.00 if my calculations are correct.

He has even copied and pasted the old description saying it has no tax, but in the beginning of the ad it says that it's taxed. Didn't realise car tax cost £3,350! Also, it can't be legal as the exhausts are side exit but legally they need to exit after the back axle. Sorry i'm being harsh, but i do get annoyed by car flips. I watch shows like wheeler dealers etc and they brag about how much profit they made, despite the whole time being all "nah can't go that low i've got more than that in it" even though they're making thousands, if not tens of thousands profit (after they've paid for any work done etc). If i was on one of those shows and they guy brags about how much profit he made afterwards, i'd have to go back and punch them. Rant over :)

Nice rant Ray   the thing with "Wheeler Dealers " is that they only tell you how much the original car cost & how much the parts were. They normally only make a few hundred pounds, but there's no mention of how many hours Ed China has spent doing the work. If you were to add that into the equation at the going garage hourly rates they'd lose money on pretty much every single car.

lol too many rants lately. Ah ok i didn't realise that about Wheeler Dealers. I know that on Fast N Loud they calculate in the labour costs, can't remember about the other shows but i'll remember to watch out for their costings. I am jealous of most of the cars they get on these shows. they somehow manage to find 'tatty old cars' that appear to only need the basics updated on them. We're all here with projects that need half the panels replaced or seriously worked on with chassis work too etc lol.

Ah, not necessarily so.....if you were to strip down a lot of the stuff that they're doing, you'd probably find there's a whole world of hurt that really needs doing to these cars. A case in point would be my own car, it was on the road & MOT'd & didn't look too bad for what it was. For most people it would have been a nice car to own, but for the guy that I bought it off, he thought he could restore it & make it much better. After stripping it down to almost nothing he then realised how bad the car really was underneath & found that the skills required to fix it were beyond him,.... that's where I came in & bought it ;)

As it was

When I bought it, rust needed cutting out everywhere

etc etc etc,

Under the paint you'd never know how bad it was, just take a look at the build thread to see what was involved,

yet the pic of it in yellow above makes it look like a nice car doesn't it? The reality is, that there are an awful lot of cars on the road, such as those shown on TV, that look great, but strip them down to a bare shell & you'll see how bad things really are. Ray,....I bet your Camaro looked ok when you bought it?

cheers...nige
