The long wait is over! Really happy with the colour. Pics aren't fantastic but couldn't wait any longer! The only bit I'm not happy with is the stripes. I understood they were painting them and had provided the factory measurements. They have painted the main stripe but used tape for the thin outer bit. After 2 days this is starting to peel off. They did it really quickly as I was about to arrive then sprayed the car immediately after to get the dust off. Is this something I could do myself - taking time and patience over! |

The answer to your question is YES you can buy tape from i think Frost Resturation or Eastwoods it has two stips of tape on a backing to leave a stripe that you paint ,if not you can buy fine line tape from any good paint supplyers and do it your self Cheers Neil dont foreget to scotch brite your paint before you paint on stripe .P.P.S go slowly around curves and dont stretch the tape to much . |

Yeah, it's doable & relatively straight forward. Pretty much all automotive paint suppliers can supply you with 1/4" fineline tape. (dunno what that is in metric as I'm a dinosaur lol). remove the tape that's on there now & cut back the area that the black stripe is going to go on.Then lay out the Fineline tape to follow the edge of the main black stripe. Don't pull it too hard or it'll stretch & lose it's width. This will be the red part of the stripe. Then lay the next line of stripe on to follow the edge of the tape you've just applied. This will be the black stripe. then follow the edge of this with another line of tape. This will be the tape that you mask to. Pull off the second tape you applied, to reveal the red paint where the black stripe is going to be. (hope this makes sense). mask out the main black stripe & mask off the outer tape you've laid on. Then, with either a spray gun, or black aerosol, spray on the stripe over the red. Unmask the whole lot & hey presto, one set of coachlines. Alternatively, go back to whoever painted it & demand that they do it properly as it was just plain laziness to do it the way that they did. hth cheers....Nige |

That'd be my chosen course. When the front wing on mine was resprayed, they guy had left a run on the arch. Now, they were doing me a deal on it, so it hadn't been a priority job but when I pointed it out they did agree they shouldn't have let it go out and they fixed it. Might be worth asking if they wouldn't mind sorting it out, it's an advert for their business after all. |

6mm = 1/4 A quick search found me this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-6MM-PIN ... 3cba221448 less than a fiver, just peel off what's there, as you're applying the new stuff. That way you don't have to try and re-measure and re-create the lines. Looks like they had greasy hands when applying the tape, seeing as it's on the corners where they would have had to handle it more, which stopped it from sticking. Of course, from the great advise given so far by Nige and Neil... use the tape lines that are there, to create an outline of the pinstripe that is falling off, peel off the falling off pinstripes, scuff, degrease and paint. Aerosol will work, if you can go with some 2k paint even better. Or as Chevy Stu says, go back and get them to do the job you paid them to do You've got options for sure The rest of it came out looking great! Looks very good |

Cheers all. I'll give the bodyshop a call and see what they can offer. I was just initially reluctant to put it back in - wanted to enjoy the few remaining sunny days! |
