Hi , looking for some advice on which if any suspension to use for new rear leaf springs. Have a big block in my 73 and have always had hose big ugly traction bars / slapper bars to stop wheel hop. Not sure if my car even needs them. Never driven without. Would like to know if putting hothkis or global west leaf springs would help. Anyone using these with a fairly powerful motor and having no wheel hop issues? Global west state their leaf springs do help stp wheel hop and hotchkiss say nothing. But nothing better than hearing from people with these. I know either will improve handling and lower the rear end and thats great. Just don't want to fit them and then need to put those traction bars back on. Its a street car with only occasional off the line take offs for fun. Never drag race it. thnx in advance all.... |

I looked into it when I bought my Hotchkis springs, and I concluded they're both the same basic design with the second leaf being longer at the front to counteract wheel hop, a bit like the slapper bars do, but not so aggressively.. As I already had the Hotchkis front springs, and the rears were a little cheaper than the global West, I went for the Hotchkis rears too .... i don't do any drag racing, or take off the line trying to kill the gearbox or clutch, but for handling they do work well...! |

we use Global West rear springs- which are waisted and with ProTech shocks an anti roll bar, delurum bushes- and we have no axle tramp- and Butch has plenty of hp! nb the 68 was the first camaro to have staggered shocks - that help a lot! We have Hotchkiss front springs on Camilla- and on the rear (of Camilla) we have those trick carbon fibre springs- very responsive- but a bit too much lateral movement for a racer- they came off a friend's 67 racer |

I chose Hotchkis springs springs for my '68 front and rear,2inch drop front 11/2rear. Have driven a 1st gen with full Hotchkis TVS and the result is impressive to say the least I would expect the same holds true for 2nd gen. |
