Post subject:  Z28 Rear Disk, Brake Caliper mounts seem wrong, please help?

Ok guys, I have an 81 Z28 and am currently trying to get it back on the road.
I am having a nightmare with the rear caliper hangers/brackets

The Puzzle...
The right hand rear wheel; the caliper mounts furthest to the REAR of the car
The left hand rear wheel; the caliper mounts furthest to the FRONT of the car

I thought i'd be clever, undo the 4 bolts holding the caliper bracket on the rear left wheel, then rotate 180 degrees, and re-bolt on... nope, the bolt holes dont line up.

I also noticed when I got the car, 2 plates came with it, I cant try these plates as I am unsure how the hub/shaft removes.

** I have just noticed the shock is sitting different sides of the hub, whats going on guys ? **

Any help would be really helpful!

Thanks again guys
Andee

Its meant to be like that, honest!

One infront and one behind the axle, same with the shocks.

Thanks for the reply flak monkey, I believe you!, I have been reading up and it seems to be the same on pontiacs, so.. thanks for putting my mind at rest and thanks for the info!

I have acquired this car in pieces and I am trying to reassemble without the help of a manual which is proving a little testing.

You wouldn't happen to know part numbers of brake cables and possibly rear pads would you? I could do with ordering a new set as opposed to the rusty ones provided!

Thanks again!
Andee

No worries. Don't know the numbers but get in touch with Chris at Wasp (01945 588091) and he will be able to sort you some out :)

Ah, you discovered the mystery of the staggered shocks.. and therefore front/rear mounted brakes..
