"Your very professional website has set me thinking about (easily) the best car that I ever owned- a 72 Camaro with a s/b.

I bought it from Reading in 1984 (I think) and ran it on the road, virtually stock, for about 5 years. Foolishly I then started fiddling around with it (blame Street Machine magazine). Over the next 8 years, I am afraid to admit that I gradually reduced its usefulness and spoiled it's appearance. Eventually, sometime around 1997, I had to part with it. By then it had a lot of fibreglass panels (including doors), was entirely in grey primer, and was no longer a runner. At that time the car was in Biggleswade, Beds., and I think the guy who bought it came from somewhere further into the East of England.

Needless to say I've always wondered what became of it.

It is probably too much to hope that it was rescued and has survived, but I couldn't resist sending you this e-mail on the off-chance that it was/has - and that you have heard something of it. The reg. was VLB 104M."

Can anyone help?

What does "Date of Liability 01 06 2005" mean?

Is it now a toaster and kettle set?

I think that refers to last time road tax was due.... So assume it's currently exported/scrapped/written off etc...

Reply from former owner:

"Thanks Tim.

I guess it means the chap that bought it did get it back on the road at some point - only for it to be back off again by June 2005. I hope he had fun while it was running, and didn't get hurt if a crash or something brought it all to an end.

Also hope he made a nice job of it, as I said it was a fantastic car - and I shall now be wondering what it looked like when it was running.

Sometime when/if I have the space, and can afford the fuel, I will have to find another - which I promise will not spoil.

Many thanks for you help, and continuing power to your elbow with the site."

regards
etc

correct date of liability is / was when the tax runs out so there is a slim chance is still lives somewhere, cant remember if it would also show a sorn car.
