The Camaro Club (UK)

So i am driving along on a typical UK road. Pot holes, manhole covers, missing tarmac... you get the picture...
Anyway, i get a clunk when i go over bumps, and not tiny bumps, but the bigger ones.
It sounds like there is something loose with the suspension, or the body is loose on the chassis. However i have checked all i can see, it has passed 4 MOT's since i got it (it has happened since i got it)
The car is really sound. It was a Miami car, then california then UK (wow.. what a ride! :-/) So there is no rust. I thought at first that it was the front fender flexing, or not bolted on tightly somewhere, but all looks ok.

any ideas?... it has been driving me crazy for 4 years and makes it sound like a real junker, when it is actually a lovely drive.

Exhaust hitting something possibly??? Which part of the car does the noise come from? cheers....Nige

The noise seems to be from the front right of the car... (passenger side) Initially i thought i was the bonnet banging.... but it seems deeper. The exhaust used to bang.... but i now have a nice S.Steel one that is nicely mounted :-)

suspension or fender area is my guess, but i have been looking for ages with no luck so i guess it could be elsewhere

Have you been under the car to look for any signs of something hitting something it didn't ought to?? Remember that sounds can "travel" under a car & it might not be where you think it's coming from. Once it's up in th air, I'd check to make sure nothing is loose & that nothing is worn on the suspension. I doubt very much if it's a body panel making a clunking noise. Double check that your new exhaust hasn't moved on its brackets & hits the body work or rear axle. cheers.....Nige

Thanks Nige, It is a good plan. I was hoping that they might find it on an MOT, but i guess having a goot root around one sunny day might be a good idea :-)

Just an idea....
could it be your suspension topping or bottoming out on worn units?
