Been a bit of a slow weekend really. I didn't get anything done friday afternoon as I had a job interview, and we had high winds and heavy rain. So I spent the afternoon getting soaked trying to tie down the cover on the car!
Yesterday was too windy to do any welding, so I cleaned the front subframe and rear axle up ready for degreasing and paint. Took most of the day, front subframe was caked in underseal, old oil and 30yrs worth of road grime. The 2 rear mount holes need repairing, but I have the repair washers in hand. Planning on painting it with epoxy and a coat of clear to finish it off. Oh and I need to cut the engine mounts off, some muppet's welded them onto the frame!
I also got the new bushes fitted to the wishbones, so they are ready to go back on now. Picked up some new lower ball joints for £5 each courtesy of ebay. Just need some uppers now.
Today I did a few 100 miles picking up parts, got a straight passenger side door to replace my knackered one. Its got some rust in the skin, but the frame is solid. I think I can patch it up, and avoid doing the whole skin. Was expecting just a shell, but its complete with glass etc, so that was a bonus. I also snagged a fibreglass rear bumper, for £10. Brand new as well. More weight saving!
This afternoon I finished the tail panel off. Just need seam sealer and its ready for paint.
Lot of small fiddly bits to do now to finish the body off. I need to remove the torque rods from the trunk hinges. Any pointers?
