Thought this was an interesting read for anyone with a 305. Not sure why they get called boat anchors, a basic rebuild with minor inexpensive mods brought in almost 400 torque & hp for this chap:

Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
305s are choked by the small valve heads, I think a 350 makes the power easier.

My old "boat anchor".

Just swap for decent heads surely ... They're not crazy money now, especially as aftermarket aluminium heads have become so popular a 'standard-ish' set of iron 350 heads should be a few hundred quid.

The 350 head's valves are shrouded by the small 305 bore.
I had some World Products iron heads on my 305 but they did'nt do that much for power.
They did how ever wake up the 350, I used them until I got aluminium heads, loads of low down torque.

Power is all about getting air into the cylinders.
