Post subject:  Chevy 305 rebuild

Thought this was an interesting read for anyone with a 305. Not sure why they get called boat anchors, a basic rebuild with minor inexpensive mods brought in almost 400 torque & hp for this chap:

305s are choked by the small valve heads, I think a 350 makes the power easier.

Just swap for decent heads surely ... They're not crazy money now, especially as aftermarket aluminium heads have become so popular a 'standard-ish' set of iron 350 heads should be a few hundred quid.

The 350 head's valves are shrouded by the small 305 bore.
I had some World Products iron heads on my 305 but they did'nt do that much for power.
They did how ever wake up the 350, I used them until I got aluminium heads, loads of low down torque.

Power is all about getting air into the cylinders.
