Hello everybody, my names Ade and I live in Swansea, South Wales. I owned a 1975 Trans Am 20 years ago and after years of getting married, having kids, pets, etc etc am at last looking to be the proud owner of some American Muscle once again!!! You just can't get over the V8 rumble, once bitten......... VROOM VROOM! Anyway I'm looking for a 3rd Gen Camaro with T-Tops on a budget of around £3k. |

Hi Ade! Thought I'd reply as I bought a 3rd gen just over a month ago. Similar story to yours to be honest. You may struggle a bit on price to be honest, they seem to be going up at the moment. But there are some 'optimistic' asking prices online at the moment. I was specifically looking for a decent 350 / 5.7, there are more 305 / 5.0 around normally. Most seem to be in the £4k to £5k bracket, some above that (I was looking at a yellow one for £6k near bluewater, he wouldn't budge on the price but it's still advertised......) I got mine (will be posting some piccies against my newbie post shortly) for £3.5k which I considered to be a bargain. However it needed (I knew this when I got it) new injectors which I've now done, but all in this cost me the best part of £500. However it's spec'd up to the hilt. The only ones I'd seen cheaper than this seem to be nails, or V6s. If you can find a V8 for £3k I'd say snap it up. Happy to give you advice etc. I'd spent about 6 months looking for the right one, and I'm still trawling the net for cars and parts nearly every day Good luck |

I think you need to look at the sold prices rather than the advertised ones, there are lots of people on ebay asking £5 or £6k for a 3rd gen, there is even someone asking £15k for one with a supercharger or 12k for one with a daft paint job that must have been on there for over a year now. It makes the prices appear unrealisticly high and every other seller thinks theirs must be worth a few quid and jumps on the bandwagon, personally i wouldnt pay more than £3500k (a few quid more and your into 4th gen V8 territory) for a v8 or £1800 for a V6 and for that money i would expect something half decent. Good luck finding one but remember its a buyers market at the moment and with christmas coming up people are going to need a few quid, happy hunting |
