Hello all.

I have just purchased my dream car (well one of them anyway). It's a '68 350 SS cone, which has been completely re-done, and is finished in Riviera Blue. I believe this is a '70's colour. I live in East Anglia and hope to get out and about to some meetings in the Summer.

There are a few things I plan to do to the car. It comes with stock wheels so a set of period alloys will go on it. I also plan to lower the rear by on inch and the front by two. If anyone can advise on how and where I can get this done I'd be grateful!

Hi and welcome to the club, please feel free to post up some pictures of your car  We tend to use Photobucket to host the pictures as it saves bandwidth. Is this car the one that was restored by Ed China for the Wheeler Dealers TV programme?

cheers...Nige

Hi Nige,

Yes, this is the one. Although I have bought it the car won't be delivered until some time next week. The programme and my terrible ham acting will be going out on the 21st April at 9pm on Discovery!

Cheers,

Ash

Hi Ash, pleased you made it here.

I met you at the Ace that night, and also did some terrible acting in my interview with Edd.
I must say the car is a peach, so really hope you enjoy ownership.. such a shame you've had to wait for delivery.

I'm sure some others will comment too, but usual way to lower these cars is by fitting uprated replacement springs with whatever rate you think will suit your driving style and use. Ideally you'd normally match springs with uprated anti-roll bars and shocks.

A quicker cheaper way is to cut a little off the existing spring (1/2 coil), and add lowering blocks on the rear leafs, bu personally on such a clean car I'd fit new springs.

Hi Stu, good to hear from you.

Were you the chap with the camouflaged 2nd Gen? it was a good night at the Ace. I hadn't been there before, either.

Thanks for the information. Lower new springs seem to be the way to go for the front. The rear has leaf springs, so I guess I'll go for blocks. I don't intend rallying the old beast so it doesn't need to go round corners like a track car.

Do you or anyone else know about suppliers in this country?

Cheers, and maybe we'll meet up again some time.

Ash
