Best advice I can give is to use your Windshield as a guide to position the panel .
Best to fix with screws/rivets to get the position correct before attempting to weld .
If the level on the bottom of the screen is close you will not be far off .
Hope this helps .

Yeah that was my plan, the screen I had stored for the last 3 years has a crack so will use it to mock it up with. Maybe use a strip of sticky back foam to represent the butyl? Tape. Then use screws to hold things together and see how it looks. Luckily I found the bottom glass support things so will use those too. Also read it's a good idea to test fit the dash pad so all the holes line up right before welding.

So after many hours of test fitting and moving and shifting I think I've got it in a good place. It seems the upper dash is a chap stamp, one side is different to the other. Nothing like helping matters! What does anyone think of the placement, I've shoved the screen right up against the roof just to give me an equal line across the bottom. Once done it will be lower.

That's looking good
When replacing panels it always takes a lot of trial and error to get it right , even more so with non-original repair sections .
Now is probably the time to fix the position of the clips that position the lower edge of the windshield .
There is a lot of scope for the final fit with the adhesive, just try to ensure that the trim clips are in a good position to take the trim and you should be good to go
If you get a guy experienced in American bonded in glass it always helps !

The upper dash panel doesn't have any holes for the bottom glass support mounts so will have to make some. How much space is meant to be round the glass? As it stands there is about 1cm to the left and right. Looks a lot but I presume the chrome covers it? I've done some por15ing today and will hopefully get things welded in tomorrow. Will of course test fit another 20-30 times!
