Hi guys, i recently bought a tube framed '68 camaro to replace my 71 ford torino (dont panic, i was always an "f" body man with my first being a 4 speed '78 Z28, followed by a tube framed , ex superstreet '70 camaro, then a '76 trans am)
the car was a street machine feature car in oct '95 (only back halved at the time) and was in a pretty rough state, i've been working on her now for a couple of months and am pleased to say that she's on the street again, resplendant in s fresh coat of rattle can matt black (untill i can afford a proper paint job)
what do you guys think?
this first pic is as bought

and as she is now.

Hi, no idea who's car it was, it was originally built by a guy named Paul Dale, and was a back halved car at the time (SM feature in oct '95)
since then, it has been fully tube framed, no idea who by, but they made a great job of it, it was re-registered in August 2009, losing the number plate "OTR 702M"
It now wears the age correct plate "MCW 81G"
i would be interested to know of any history on the car, particularly any engine work done.
as i said, it has a temporary paintjob at the moment as it really needs new wings and header panel, bootlid and a drivers door (i have some coming in a couple of weeks)
the engine is a 350 small block, with various hi po parts and she goes quite well.......but not well enough, therefore a nitrous motor is on the cards, although i did toy with the idea of a blower motor, (as my last camaro, a tube framed '70 example had)

i decided against the blower for economy reasons though, as these next pics, my old '70, only got around 6mpg

Hi, i have a partial decode for the car, statng the build date as 12th October 1968, but that's all i know, the vin number is 123478N361104.
As for spec, the axle is an 8 inch ford, narrowed a lot!, the box is a th350 and the motor is a 350, i haven't gotten inside it yet, but it has a holley 600 fitted at the moment on a street dominator manifold, a mallory dual point dizzy, 2" primary headers with 4" collectors (hopefully this points to a well sorted motor, as they are a bit overkill if all the motor has is a carb, intake and cam!)
there is an edelbrock sump fitted too.
plans are to use the car in NSCC competition this year (THE best street car race series on the planet), maybe with a 100 horse shot of gas, whilst i build a fresh engine specifically for nitrous,(a 250/300 horse shot).
the car will remain street legal and driven to the tracks/shows/cruises etc, more often than not, towing my trailer tent (must build a towbar).bear in mind, my closest cruise is Riversway in Preston.........only 105 miles south of where i live, so shakey and the pod are a 5 hour plus drive (now you see why i dont want to go the blower route!)

Sweet Ride!

You could also come along to York raceway and run in american superstock or Hot Rod .

It would be good to see more early camaros.
