Post subject: | Registration of 1969 Camaro HELP! |
HI guys, In need of some advice. I am currently completing my forms for getting my first number plate. I am filling out a DVLA V55/5 form https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... hicle-v555 However it asks for multiple data which I simply do not have, for example: Mass in service CO2 Stationary sound level etc,etc It constantly refers to "Take this information from the Certificate of Conformity or IVA/MSVA Certificate" which I only have an american "Certificate of Title" which is completely different. The car has been registered upon import; I have my clearance and NOVA reference etc etc. I am completely lost when filling out the form to DVLA's requirements. Do I need an MOT?, Do I only fill in what I can?, Am I filling in the wrong form? etc etc? Any help will be extremely appreciated as it's stressing me out!!!! |

Ooh, messy. Sorry can't help much here, you need to speak to someone who has done this already. Mass in service? Weight of vehicle? CO2? This year is exempt from emissions testing. Sound level? How they gonna test? FWIW, weight is about 1400kg, depending on engine etc. Sound? Tell 'em about 75-80db As for an MOT, you can have one without it being registered but the stock lights will fail (not amber indicators) and possibly dip beam if not replaced with UK type 7 inch headlamps. It's all quite easy to do but experience is key. Good luck and hopefully someone who is familiar with the registration process can help you. Cheers, Martin |

Cheers Martin, thanks for the figures! Yeah I've already wired everything to be UK MOT Legal! That's one thing ticked off! |

There was a very useful page on rods n sods that was a guide on how to fill out the v55. I bookmarked it, checked back just now and it was removed. Apparently the guy got the hump because it was being shared on the internet and he only intended it for forum members. Err,, and? Welcome to the internet and the modern day world where people like to share info and help eachother out. Anyway, from what i remember, you can leave most parts blank, as it's not a new vehicle. They aren't verifying anything, just putting it into a database so get the main parts right i.e. year, make model, engine etc. and the rest won't make a difference to anything. If you have a quick google search for v55 and import, then it should bring up some owners forums where certain parts of it may be answered. Sorry it's not much help, really wanted to link you to that article as it was great, but ye, people. |

78 Camaro, What some people do baffles me! Thankyou very much for the information though, you have been of great help! I will fill out the forms and send them off to the best of my ability! Do you know anything about having to have an IVA or anything? Thanks again |

You're welcome, if you do get really stuck on anything, some people have been able to get decent help by calling the dvla, will unfortunately just depend on who picks up the phone there on how much help they can be. Shouldn't need an IVA as it's not custom - the process would be to insure the car on the vin (most insurers will do this, especially specialist classic insurers) then book an MOT and drive there (it's legal to drive directly there with no road tax, as long as it's insured). The MOT will be done on the vin and once it's passed, a copy of it can be attached to the V55 (this proves the car is usable on the road, which is effectively what the iva is for). Hope that helps! |
