I miss having some muscle in the garage. Maybe 1969 Z/28 302 or a 69 SS 6.5 litre . Was thinking of importing but may be persuaded to buy in UK. What do you recommend guys? Thanks. |

I would go for a SB z/28 - cheaper in UK than US |

My thoughts would be that buying a 1st or 2nd gen would be best done in the U.S. 2nd gens still (alarmingly) get scrapped in the U.S because of fixable things like a rusty rear frame rail. I'm on a few parts pages in the U.S and there's even a guy who's built a large garage just to part out 2nd gens. Awful. He had a bullnose Firebird that he was going to part out, we managed to convince him to sell it as it was still a running car (needed a bit of work of course), sold for $4,000. Bullnose Firebirds over here go for £10k+ and need work. 3rd gens prices are still low-ish and roughly the same in the UK and U.S so with shipping and import added, you end up usually paying more for a 3rd gen when importing. In summary, unless you find a rare good bargain here, import from the U.S for a 1st or 2nd gen, anything newer, UK. You will have a much larger selection in the U.S, 1st gens here are normally £20k+ and there's usually only 1 or 2 on sale at at time. Having said that, I do know of a guy with a 1st gen that will be up for sale soon, he's getting it MOT'd in a few weeks then putting it up for sale. Not sure how much he's asking as he hasn't posted an ad yet, i think it's a big block but will check. Restored about 2-3 years ago, very nice orange colour. When he posts up the ad i'll copy it here. Hope that helps! |

Thanks guys, and 78, please DO let me know when that Orange Camaro is for sale, very interested. I now have all my forms ready from DVLA and itching to get something before the 2017 Brands Hatch American Speed Fest. |
