i believe my car has 1" 1/2 lowered leaf springs on the rear and have just had the front put back to stock height, is there a way to lift the back up 1" - 1 1/2" without replacing the full leaf spring set?

You can get leaf spring helpers, but they're not not ideal.... or add an extra leaf to the existing pack to raise the spring rate.
Ideally change the springs fitted, to the originals... someone will buy the dropped springs for sure..

You can add lowering blocks but not "lifting blocks" so as said before, the solution is in the leaf spring.

back in da funky 70's you could get extended shackles on the rear of the leaf springs, also seen in the UK on Capris, to raise the back end to cover them big Pro-Trac tyres in the days before air shocks (also a terrible solution)

what effect will the shackles have other than higher ride height? and can you get them just for like a 1 inch lift?

They looked very unstable to me, side to side movement that is.

You could try and remove the front spring eye shackle and drill a hole lower down than the existing one. Effectively, doing an opposite Herb Adams mod. It looks like there is a good 3/4" of space below the existing hole. I would be tempted to weld the same gauge steel to extend the area below the existing bolt hole, then weld another plate ontop of the side, for extra rigidity, that should give you a good inch or so to drill a new hole about 1/2 to 3/4 inch down. It should achieve the same lift as getting extended rear shackles. Here's the part i mean:

Couldn't find any extended shackles, but if you're only looking for an inch lift or so, should be ok... i can't remember which manufactuer does them, but i've seen them on some cars in the U.S, where they effectively have a laddered rear shackle i.e there are multiple holes pre-drilled so that when you go from big tyre to street tyre, you can just undo the bolt, move to the next step and do the bolt back up. The ones i've seen have been desisgned for several inches of lift, so i reckon an inch or so should be ok. If i find the ones i mean, i'll post them on here...

Here's an example of the lift shcakles i meant:

You may even be able to get away with using that set. Find the centre to centre bolt measurements from the Camaro, then see how these compare to those ones. After all, it's just a thick metal plate in the kit, you won't need the bushing or bolts. I guess the bolt hole diameter would also need to be the same, so if you can those two measurements against eachother, you should be ok. Those shackles are apparently for off road use, so should be touch enough for our potholes :)

I think this is why they disappeared during the 80's... I think lateral stability is an issue. I know my aftermarket shackles are thicker than the originals to stop any bend, and of course any extra length with magnify that..
(sort of looks cool in 70's custom way though :silent: )
