I find searching for answers on this kind of thing gives you many many varied theories. But try this thread, http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/correct ... 59581.html "You need at least 10 lbs. of oil pressure for every 1000 rpm's. Ideal is around 15-20 lbs per 1000 rpm's." |

I thought it should 25/30 at warm idle. Mine sits around 30 at lowest, but it's a newish engine with some clever bits. 20 sounds a little low. You have got a Chevy engine in yours haven't you ? |

I have a high volume pump in mine, I see people saying it´s not a good thing but I´ve had it in there a long time no problems. I think for low rpm use it keeps the top of the engine well oiled. I see 50-60. |

May be your oil is a bit thin what grade are you using? Also gauges are not always that accurate. I think from memory that a Pontiac motor when warm should read 30 psi at 2000rpm 40psi at cold is ok |

Most of the engines I deal with (plus my own) are around 60-80psi cold but drop to about 30 ish when hot idling, rising to around 60ish at moderate rpm. HTH Cheers, Martin |

Mine doesn't drop below 38. Usually 45 to 55 driving when warm. 60 ish when started from cold. But thats a LS1. My old LT1 had crap oil pressure in comparision. 20ish or lower when warm at idle but was fine when driving? I think it was something to do with a sticky EGR valve. On a side note I was stuck in traffic in the Camaro last night and the engine temp and oil temp didn't move a jot. Well chuffed. Stayed just below 210 F and oil pressure a steady 38 at idle. |
