Yeh that's just it the sun isn't up Block is a 70 350ci with big valve (62) heads Edlebrooke intake and carb & headers don't know what cam but its nippy, I'm just going through it at the moment to make it more road worthy so hours of tinkering and setting things up right, but thats all part of the fun. Apart from one or two safety issues, like a vacuum leak on the servo and the bolt missing (striped threads) from the drivers side engine mount, which allowed the engine to lift under moderate throttle when pulling out into traffic and pulling the accelerator pedal away from your foot, not a good combination. Imagine my surprise when I prodded to go pedal to pull into traffic on a large roundabout and off we go!! wheels spinning! both feet on the brake! and struggling with one of those (soon to be removed) ratchet shifters!!.... then burble home for a change of underwear How people can first of all drive around in cars that are poorly maintained/set up or serviced is beyond me, and then to selling it to someone without mentioning it dangerous idiots! Anyway its getting there and mostly sorted apart from a slight overheating problem which I think is going to be the divider plates in the water pump, they have probably rotted out like they do as its not circulating like it should and is running quiet hot. Does any one know where I can get these in the UK, they are the early type (2 plates) |

Those early Pontiac 350 engines with the HO type big valve heads are rare, 'specialy in the UK and make a very nice street engine, good torque and top end power as well, keep the revs to a sensible level [ 5k] because the weak link in Pontiacs is the ability of the conrods to run high revs... That's a rare car and well worth spending a bit of time and effort on to make up for what the seller neglected. Nice piece of F body history to be enjoyed as you improve it... |

Thats one nice looking Firebird if its not raining it could be the best we get ,enjoy the dry weather .If your after bits try Rock Autos good prices and fast deliverey ,there is three deliverey prices if you go for the middle del price they charge you 20% vat so no extra cash to pay when your bits arrive .I ordered bit for my Camaro at dinner time Monday and the bits arrived Wed afternoon ,gotta be happy with that Cheers Neil |

Yep its a really good car very solid and I'm slowly working through stuff the next thing is the steering and brakes, should have been first I know but they arn't that bad and I was distracted by the throttle issue Anyway I'm have fun working on it. I've found the weak point on Pontiacs to be the oil pump drive from the distributor and then like you say on the 455 the rod's I'm not a fan of the 455 Pontiac motor I've had a couple very over rated I think. |

Hi Niel.w Thanks, and I'm not that much of a sun worshiper anyway but my daughter blame's me for the change in weather because its be dull since I've added this car to my collection. Rock autos are the best for most things I've been using them for many years and the vat thing is king for me too because it saves on that stupid expensive letter from the post office It is one of the prettest cars I've owned,,,, does that meen I'm on the change |
