First time on here to say Hi and hopefully get some more information on the 69 Camaro I just bought off Ebay... I'm sure someone on here must have seen it. Here are the pics from the Ebay advert which also had a link to a photo of when the car was called Red Devil http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1034055 ... 2851dTXedD Really pleased to have finally got one of my dream cars - although it needs paint, panel alignment and some minor interior stuff its all MOT'd and usable on the road so will probably have some fun with it first before making any big plans. The Camaro has been in the UK since 1972 so I'm hoping to track down some history and photos on various forums Now, since being a teenager back in the 70's and doing the Chelsea cruise in a 67 390GT Mercury Cougar that love of all things V8 never goes away so the carmaro will be a stablemate to my 67 Mustang fastback so I don't subscribe to that Ford vs Chevy stuff OK.... I love 'em all.. !! Here's a pic of the mustang if you'll allow it !!!! |

Thanks guys - like I said I don't subscribe to the old tribal Ford v Chevy banter so I started with pictures of both. And the pictures of the camaro have been well received on the mustang forum as well.... ! Gradually building up a history of the car mainly through the UK Drag Racing Nostalgia forum. Turns out so far that Red Devil 69 Camaro became the Rampage camaro after Sam Connell sold it at the end of 1978 to get a Chevy Nova race car. Then in the late 80's early 90's Rampage suffered an off-road experience when the back axle broke at speed. I'm now trying to find out how badly it was damaged as the 454 engine was sold one way and the body sold elsewhere. It may be that the only piece of 'drag racing heritage' I own is the number plate Would be nice to find that it could be the original car still, but can't see how this could be proved really? If so, then yes I would return it to its original paint scheme as below. If not it will be an ORANGE restomod as secon pic below..... |

One of my uncles knows the car, He said Sam was the fastest when he got his GTO to Santa Pod but beat him when he finished his firebird but then Sam moved from production racing to modified. |

Picked the car up yesterday from Essex and trailered it back to hometown Bristol - 365 mile round trip took 9hrs what with stops for eat / toilets! Main problem was having to stick to 50mph as anything faster the trailer developed a weave Loaded up and ready to go.... Reasonably tidy underneath Quick stop at Reading Services - this offside rear quarter needs a lot of panel beating. Loads of peaks & troughs from poor welding. Now, please observe the very flourescent green in the boot lip? This is also apparent on the front door screen pillars in the previous pics above. Underneath is what appears to be a first coat of red paint. Does that colour remind you of anyones old camaro..... |

Got this picture of it in the pile of invoices that came with the car.......... doors and cowl panel are that weird green colour..... so this is a fairly recent picture as its not long been blown over with primer before it was sold to me... Obviously I know the owner of the car at this stage as its on the V5 reg document |
