TOPGEAR are filming the new Camaro this week south of Godalming at their test track- they need a Series 1 Gen to compare

Since the Series 5 Camaro will be red with black stripes - it would be preferable for the series 1 also to be Red with black stripes-- but not obligatory

Come on Nigel and Brett- you both have fast sorted red series 1 Gen Camaros- any good? BBC will pay expenses and insurance etc- and you get a DVD of your car's starring role!!
please get in touch pronto if you want to play...............

I think it more important that they get their hands on a good handling/performing Gen 1 Camaro than one that is the correct colour (Butch's new dry sump system is not ready!) and Camilla is a Convertible and on IOM!

Over to you budding film stars

Typically the timing's wrong  . The gearbox is out of the car having some upgrade work done, just waiting on parts from the US. To be honest I don't think I'd have done it even if the car was up & running. Top Gear never shows American cars in a good light no matter how good they are & of course you have no idea how it's gonna be edited, whether it's to poke fun or not. All the same, I'm sure that that my car would have put in a very good performance if it were used on track, as that's what it's been built for.

Over the years I've had 3 opportunities to be on television as the "star attraction" & declined them all on the same grounds of having no control over the final edited version. If things are edited right then you get your 15 minutes of fame, if they edit it in a bad light you end up looking a chump for the rest of your life. I can make myself look a chump very easily on my own

Thanks for thinking of my car though, it's appreciated

cheers...Nige

Maybe Tim could feed back to the Beeb that Yanks are not so keen to appear on TG as the BUTT of Clarksons jokes? (even though he used to drive a Ford GT) Hammond on the other hand LOVEs his yanks.

If they are doing a comparison-surely the 1st Gen should be standard????? :?

They're going to be doing the new Camaro at some stage, it's long overdue for them to review! Too right though, you'd have to get hammond to do the review as he loves yanks, though he does own a mustang, he may be on the that side of the pony war. Nige, if you feel that way about not appearing, i can always take it and claim it as my own :) hahah.
I don't think they've done the new challenger unless i'm mistaken. they'd probably put those head to head i'd imagine. would be really amazing if they could do one of their "hour specials" based around yanks, taking the old school originals such as the camaro, mustang, challenger etc up against their new versions. Would be an amazing show!!

They have done the new challenger in the USA group test, though it was a bit outclassed buy the competition..

There has been no TG coverage of the new camaro, and lothe as i am to say it on here, (esp as an owner of both a camaro and a mustang) all the current reviews reckon the 2011 mustang 5.0 wipes the floor with the camaro, and most of the other competition.

This seems a fairly unbiased (unusuall!!) review

I would advise anyone against lending their car to a TV company esp top gear, my dad used to be a cameraman and thena technical producer for a big TV company and has seen the abuse that leant cars can suffer, crashes overrevving, crunched changes ect, he even saw LWT once deliberately crash an owners car without permission then get it repaired and never told the owner...

Do you remember the Stratos 'kit car' feature on top gear?

Thanks for that, it's pretty much as I thought & I guess my views on why I wouldn't want to have my car featured on TG have been correct.

At least my trans is now rebuilt & working better than ever, so I'm off out in it to enjoy myself in the "real world" of cars

cheers...Nige
