Im after either a 1st gen camaro or firebird to semi pro tour..what are the biggest rear tyres on 17"rims you can get on a 69 w/out modification? also to lower the front do you have to use drop spindles and would stiffer springs be needed? p.s anyone has a car for sale(not pristine but half tidy)

Hi & welcome to the forum  The largest 17" wheel & tyre combo to fit a '69 Camaro is:-

17x8 front wheel with a back spacing of 4&7/8" or 5" maximum
245/40/17 tyre

17x9.5 rear wheel with a back spacing of 5.5"
275/40/17 tyre

This is only a close guide though, as there are things that can make a difference such as ride height/possible arch repairs etc making the body different to manufacturers spec.

You have to remember though that the 67-68 Camaros have different arches to the '69.

As to dropping the front, yes you can use dropped spindles, that'll only lower it a small amount, or alternatively, have the stiffer springs made to the height you want them to be. hth

cheers...Nige

When looking to go the drop spindle route, have a read of this:
