This subject has provided a pretty lively debate on another forum I visit
so I thought I would post the same poll here to gauge reaction!

There has been a huge amount of interest and information re this topic- it is likely to become the highest voter turnout vote in any democratic vote in any Western country this century.
let me share my personal concerns:
I have a small farm in the Highlands of Scotland; it rarely makes any money, so to keep it on its feet I have set up and created a business from scratch in a more business friendly environment - the Isle of Man (I am sorry this is a bit personal here but the circumstances need clarification!).- However in order to do this I have to relinquish my and my family's votes.

I believe that a Yes Vote would be a catastrophe for Scotland- banishing it from International Currency Markets to a sort of "Cuba Lite" existence without the sun, cigars or even the education.

Now we have a country Farmhouse in Scotland - which we let on a long term basis to a lovely family who have recently moved to the Highlands from Wiltshire with their horses and child in July this year.

We have just arrived in Highlands after braving IoM ferries etc to be met by said tenants (with vote) "I think we will vote yes to Indy because it all sounds like fun";

Hang on say us (we don't have a vote!) have you thought about the meretricious Salmond and his slippery brethren - do you Trust them and have you actually voted with your wallet- which will be seriously worse off.

Ans: "I don't trust Salmond, and if it all goes wrong - well we can always go back to England!"

WOW- that is the problem! We (with no vote) don't have that option- they along with the Polish plumbers and foreign students don't have to commit to the outcome if it all goes horribly wrong. They can always disappear back from whence they came.

We must live with the consequences - as a family we have been committed to the same place in Scotland for over 100 years and fully intend to move back here when we can afford to do so.

See Rory Bremner article in Daily Telegraph today
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... ut....html

Who on EARTH agreed to these voting principles? There are 3/4 million ExPat Scots with no vote some of whom have property here in Scotland.................?
