I should be able to take care of your centre console issue I have one for an auto, in green. Will try and get some pics end of this week / this weekend for you. 4:11 rear end will help the pull away speeds |

Pfft, I had 4.10 rear end in my Shelby and spent most of the time spinning the rear wheels from the lights!!4:11 rear end will help the pull away speeds Of course if you are not as heavy footed as me and actually wait till you are moving before mashing the loud pedal you might be OK |

Good point! I guess i should have asked first about what rear gears are in there. Maybe it's got one of the low 2.4's (can't remember the 2.x numbers!) or along those lines. My 3rd gen has low rear end ration 2.73 / 2.8 (i really can't remember the numbers ) i think. It does 70mph at 1,800 ~ 1,900 rpm in 5th gear. Engine is stock and it breaks traction in 2nd gear if you put your foot down (good tyres on there too). Wonder if the engine needs a tune up perhaps? V8 350 right? |

Well it does need a tune in I think and since I have just got her im trying to find buts that will get her going, I bought her with the seller saying its a 350 but I have since looked at the casting numbers and it comes up 460777 which I believe is a 305 motor it has a big cam lunati voodoo (3500-7000rpm) 650 holley torker intake and headman headers like you say 78 Camaro I can do 60mph at 1500rpm in a auto fuel is good but hey its an American v8 I don't care I want to be quicker off the line and I am guessing I would benefit from a stall converter and or a rear gear change. What would you say? And yes that would be great with the pics of the console. Thanks |

You should definitely get plenty of power from that, especially with all those upgrades! 305's get a lot of hate, i'm not sure why, i saw a post the other day on facebook referring to them as boat anchors. I drive a 305 every day and it's damn quick - best part is it's bone stock. I only dare put my foot down if i can see the road is clear and dry and even then i ease the the throttle in. I never have a problem catching up with any car or creating a gap behind me. I hardly class 0-60 in 7 seconds as something a boat anchor can do. Anyway back to your car. With all of those upgrades, it probably just needs a good tune. It tends to be a thing that people buy a performance part and fit it, expecting power gains. With the engine being an environment, any change to that environment changes the whole system and it needs to be compensated for. When you then change a lot of things, a lot of things needs to be compensated for. Even stock that car should be pretty quick, with those add ons it should definitely be quick. AndyD on here runs a stock 3rd and it ran 13.55's the other day. I reckon you've got the power there, just needs to be setup to unleash it! Haven't forgotten about the console - didn't have a chance to take it out of hiding over the weekend. Will try get to it tomorrow evening. |

I changed my rear gears from 2.80 to 3.42s......staying conservative, but it does make the car much livelier. |

Yes I have come to the conclusion that I need a rear gear change as I took a look at spinning the rear wheel while it was off the floor and I got 1 and a quarter turns from my yoke to 1 rotation from the wheel and this would seem to be right as I can travel at 60mph and still be under 2000rpm, so if anyone know of some gearing please tell and that for all your help too. |
