Hi Russ if you take your tank off give it a good clean and check over if it is just cracked then it can be welded up also as a double fix you can put tank sealor into it , i have used this several times and always been happy Cheers Neil  any questions don,t hesitate .

No the tank sealor is a liquid that you tip into your tank once its out ,if it is cracked and not peppered (loads of little holes ) it could be welded ,where abouts is the crack .To make any long lasting repair it will need to be empty and off the car.Cheers Neil

looking from the back its at the back rh corner where it begins to round up to the floor of the car. I bust a wheelie bar and it came up and smacked it creasing the metal slightly, the crack is on the pinnacle of the crease.

Hi Russ,

I replied to your other thread about this. I recently fixed a hole in my tank. too scared to weld it, so as my other post explains, i sandwiched in the hole between 2 small steel plates. Just cut out 1"x2" piece of steel, placed one on the inside, one on the inside, with a bolt through the midddle. Tightening the nut created a physical barrier. As a failsafe i used plastic padding leak stop that i got from halfords between the plates to create a gasket, just in case. I spoke on the phone with plastic padding - they cautioned me on the use of the fuel tank repair paste they do, because since ethanol content has gone up in fuel, it will start to break down the current chemical compound, so they are looking at re-formulating, but a new product will be a while off. the leak stop apparently works better, which is what i used. they are both 2 part - 1 tube paste, 1 tube hardener. I would create as much of a physical barrier as possible, hence my sandwhich method. Depending on your situation, maybe a similar solution can be put in place. The same guy from plastic padding also mentioned that some people would just drill out a bigger hole and and screw a bolt in, making the hole kinda like how the oil sump plug is. Hopefully that helps in someway!

Cheers,
Ray
